Introduction

Here comes a long one folks…

There are times that make me shake my head. As with all things in life there are folks out there that lie through their teeth, to deceive and obtain funds from folks. One such person is an self proclaimed East Texas Sasquatch researcher by the name of Robert “Bob” Garrett, who often calls himself, “The Hermit.” The man eventually became the leader of a for profit LLC, called the The Texas Big Thicket Watch Guide Service.

Bob “The Hermit” Garrett

Many came to know Garrett from the controversial podcast, “The Sasquatch Chronicles.” Which for a long time catered to the notion that Sasquatch is a violent creature with a disdain for his less hairy primate relatives, us.

Garrett started off appearing to be a legitimate, caring researcher, never espousing a violent nature of the creatures, but I believe, in my opinion, seeing the early success of the “Sasquatch Chronicles,” hitched his wagon to the malevolent side of Sasquatch, and began to tell tales on the podcast of the mean streak of the hairy hominid creatures.

The Sasquatch Chronicles, itself was not shy of controversy as it was born out of the show hosts’ encounter. Wes and Woody had alleged an encounter in which they claim they were surrounded by a group of Sasquatch, where some of the environmental surroundings claimed on the encounter, did not seem to mesh up with the actual weather data collected at the time.

They asked for the intervention of the Washington Sasquatch Research Team (WASRT), which responded to the scene the next day, but they failed to find any corroborative evidence to their claims.

…Wes said on the show that he’d contacted WASRT—perhaps hoping for great validity. So WASRT’s report was revealed (no moon, no evidence) and then Wes curiously insisted that he’d merely called them (even though their website had no phone number) and certainly had never emailed them. Upon hearing this, WASRT promptly disclosed that at least 26 emails existed between Wes and the team.

A full account of that can be read here in the DailyBeast.com

As far as Garrett’s tales of violence inside the Big Thicket of east Texas, Researcher Julie Rench, having relatives in the area decided to reach out on her own to corroborate Garrett’s claims with Texas Wildlife and Law Enforcement Officials.

“…Mrs.  Rench, we have not found anyone dead in the big thicket. We have no reports of such story. This does not match any deaths that we in Hardin County have had. If you get more information on this let us know…

…Not aware of this story you are asking about. We did have two people missing near Chester who were later found deceased in 2012-2013. This investigation was conducted by Tyler County Sheriff’s Office. They were residents of Polk County.

…I sent an email to Sasquatch Chronicles on February 1st and advised them that I had been in contact with some of the Law Enforcement in Texas and I could not verify the story that two people were killed and asked if they had checked into it as well.  I did not receive a response.  Shortly after the email I was removed and blocked from the Sasquatch Chronicles Facebook group.”

Her research can be found here on the Bigfoot Anarchy Blog. It is very thorough and concise.

The phone call

In December I had received a call from a couple of concerned members of the Mid-America Bigfoot Research Center (MABRC) that a friend of theirs had been taken for $1000.00 on one of Garrett’s expeditions that had been cancelled. They set up a phone call with the young lady from Missouri.

Email wr (Web)

The victim, receiving instructions from Garrett’s daughter.

paypal receipt (web)

In February of 2016 she had paid for an expedition with the Texas Big Thicket Watch Guide Service, payable to one Robert Garrett, in the amount of $1000.00. Only to be told later that the expedition had been cancelled because they had been shut down by the federal government. When she spoke with Garrett she had asked about getting her money back, but Garrett said he was broke because he had to pay huge fines. If he gave her some time he would pay her back. He eventually stopped answering her calls.

First, I had to research Garrett’s claims and second, see if he would be willing to pay the victim back.

Garrett had made claims of Federal harassment because of the “murders” he uncovered of the Sasquatch, including a ripped up campsite he allegedly came across with his son Travis.

“I have reviewed the videos and I still do not see anything that can not be attributed to human activity. In my younger days I went to many bush parties and witnessed things far worse than this. I have seen "tore up" woods and it was due to drunken idiots hacking down trees or from people intentionally running in to trees with their trucks. People due stupid things while under the influence of alcohol.

I have been on bike runs and plenty of poker runs that involved over night stays in campgrounds. I have seen what sauced up, half-in-the-pail adults will do. I have seen torn up camps and the camp in this video pales in comparison.”

                                                            – Rand Filipovic March 24th, 2015

                                                          Bigfoot Anarchy Blog

An analysis of that was done by researcher Steve Alcorn and Randy Filipovic and can be found here on Bigfoot Anarchy.

I had to be sure Garrett was telling the truth about being shut down by the Feds. It was…just not for the reasons he claimed. We all know about running paid expeditions on Federal lands. In case you don’t; You need permits. Something Garrett wasn’t apparently willing to do, or unable to do.

An investigation full of surprises

First and foremost I wanted to ascertain the validity he was shut down by the government. The answer to that was no. He just wasn’t able to go to the National Park anymore. Last I knew the NP wasn’t the only game in town in East Texas for Bigfoot research, as I have been there in the past on expeditions and never hit that NP once. So he was not “shut down,” just at that location. His acumen as a Bigfoot researcher really shows poorly, for if he as good as he claims, he could have moved onto another active area (as Texas is full of them) and at least had some modest results.

This led me to looking at the profiles of Bob Garrett, Tim Sermons and Mo Michaux who were the three involved in organizing the Big Thicket expeditions.

Nothing on Garrett or Sermons on social media. Sermons was not active at all, and Garrett was very active, but just not about Sasquatch for some time. However in looking at The Big Thicket Watch Guide Service Facebook profile, I noticed  comments by Mo Michaux.

Big Thicket FB

Capture II FB

Intrigued I contacted Michaux and got a plethora of information.  So lets go over the basics.

1. The Texas Big Thicket Watch Guide Service conducted 3 expeditions between February 2016 and April 2016.

2. In February 16th they were confronted by the NPS. The NPS warned them and told them they had to leave within 24 hours.

This was confirmed by a participant I contacted,

FEDs showed up and informed us that BG didn’t have a permit and we all need to be out of there within 24 hours.

3. The Texas Big Thicket Watch Guide Service was not shut down because of any government conspiracy covering up murders in the park as claimed by Garrett, but because he was consistently told he did not have a permit to do what he was doing. He ignored the first warning and got shut down and fined. But just in the park.

4. The first expedition Garrett proceeded to play an audio recording and spin a yarn at the “real reason” why they were being thrown out. Because a Sasquatch had torn up a camp and after the night video they had shot, he and his son had found a woman twisted, but alive, in a tree with a Sasquatch guarding it, in which Garrett had gotten an audio of it growling at them. He then proceeded to play the audio for the expeditioners.

Again confirmed with the participant,

“We were then informed by either Mo or Tim that Bob was pissed-off about the FED’s harassing him and was going to tell us the whole story about the Torn Up Camp Ground. BG presented the whole story which I conveyed to you. He then played the.…vocals for the first time.”

5. It was also confirmed to me by Sasquatch Chronicles host Wes Germer that the recording indeed was Garrett’s.

6. Germer originally blew off Michaux’s revelation that Garrett was hoaxing, by stating the two recordings sounded similar but weren’t the same in his opinion. He did try to say that to me as well but I told him, in no uncertain terms the recordings were the same and provided him the waveforms which proved such.

Here’s our analysis of the audio which is concrete evidence of Garrett hoaxing,

yt cap

The original sound came from a YouTube video which contained Gorilla Sound effects.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1ViN9Q8iao

CaptureII

It was very clear from the wave form analysis that this was the same audio file. The waveform on the alleged “Bigfoot” was not as loud indicating it was recorded from perhaps a speaker, and had noise in it, with a fan or electronic noise in the background creating the “fuzziness” on the waveform.

Waveform Analysis

The top stereo track is from the Gorilla effects video and the bottom Mono track is Garrett’s alleged audio of a Sasquatch.

When the two recordings were lined up the perfectly matched in timing and spacial distance. When played together they are clearly the same recording.

Another interesting fact, was that in speaking with Michaux, he stated they never set an LLC up. I had asked that because I had seen that in some of the NDA’s and Waiver forms sent to the victim.

I found out indeed that an LLC was set up electronically by someone without Michaux’s knowledge, despite listing him as a managing member.

Texas DOS

Back to the Money Trail

April 2016 –

“BG gathered everyone together and stated that if the FED’s showed-up and asked if we paid to be on the expedition that we were to say NO. Ten minutes later the FEDS pulled up and stated BG did not have a permit and began to questioned us separately & in groups for approximately 2 hours. While the FEDs where speaking to some of the participants at the other end of the camp, Bob sat down with a few of us and stated that he would be refunding everyone’s money.”

This is again another quote from the participant that went to all of Bob’s expeditions. She ended up having to reverse the charge on her credit card.

Another person I spoke with is from Canada, and she too never had gotten her money back as well from Garrett. To pacify the crowd Garrett had given Michaux the recording to play for everyone which is how the recording ended up in his hands. He in turn shared it with the one of the participants who discovered the Gorilla clip.

The Canadian witness was appalled.

“For someone you don’t even know to ask people that he doesn’t know to lie…he didn’t even blink an eye.”

Not only was she out the $500, but she was out the money  for the car rental, flights, hotel etc., because Garrett did not obtain a permit. Something he was warned about on his very first expedition.

She wrote the Big Thicket email, but never received a response.

After the last incident with the NPS, he was barred, so the remaining expeditions were cancelled, (not rescheduled elsewhere)

The Confrontation

On March 20th, 2017 I had an 18 minute conversation with Bob Garrett after contacting Wes Germer. I had tried for a  week via Facebook messenger and for that day on YouTube mail to contact Garrett with no response, which seems to be a common denominator with him.

message1

To make a long story short, Garrett stated he had no money and ha to pay $6000 in fines. He blamed Michaux, stating he gave him the money to pay people back. When asked about a list of paid participants for the June expedition he said Michaux had it and that he never had one.

“Well if people were paying you, how did Mo know who to pay?”

The conversation went south from there and he raised his voice to me, first questioning why I am involved. My answer was, because one of the people you owe money to asked me.

He stated he doesn’t do the Facebook thing as the reason why he didn’t answer me. But didn’t know what to say when I gave him the exact amount of posts he put on Facebook since my message.

That aggravated him even more. Caught in his own lie.

In fairness, I reached out to Wes Germer afterwards and told him point blank what I thought of Garrett, showed him the evidence and that he is refusing to pay anyone back on the claims that he has no money. Funny thing is Wes knew the real fine, but I had informed him of EXACTLY what Garrett had said. His fine was $6000 Wes stated he had felt horrible people had lost money to this because of his show.

Michaux upon hearing what Garrett had said confronted Garrett and stated I, yes me, had lied and that Tim Sermons had been given the money to pay people back. At that point I needed no verification or authentication that Garrett was a liar and had no intention whatsoever paying people back.

In actuality the fines were slightly less $6000, but it was to be divided by the three men involved, costing each around $1400.

And the kicker…it could be paid in installments.

The Case of the Missing FLIR

A friend known to many Sasquatch researcher by the pseudonym Maximus Decimus Meridius was the property master of a FLIR project where they built FLIR devices much like trap cameras. He provided Tim Sermons with three of them and researcher Chris Noel mailed them one. Long story short they all turned up into the hands of Bob Garrett and only 3 were returned, after first reporting the mailed one never got to him and another was stolen in the woods.

FLIRS returned

The FLIRs returned in a horrible state.

Three of the cameras were returned with $5000 in damage according to Max. According to Michaux, Garrett made the claim they were “given” to him and that wording was used once to “Max.” Michaux also claims that Garrett still has one in proper working order. Michaux also stated that Garrett stated his intention of keeping one stating he will tell them one was stolen. Again these claims are of a he said she said type of thing, but the corroboration of the act of being “given” them versus lent them, was both in the narratives of Michaux and Max.

Thoughts and lessons

First let me give you my thoughts on the Sasquatch Chronicles. Do I think badly of Wes Germer. Well the show’s premise is based on an alleged event, that has been disputed, mainly the evidence of weather. Was Wes caught in a lie when he stated he did not email WASRT. It appears so.

Wes had told me that night of the confrontation that, he told Garrett that I wanted to talk to him and that’s all. He said he was going to call him right away but it took a while for Garrett to get back to me via a text message.

BG Text

Text from Garrett before the phone call. The name is KULLS by the way!

So does it look like Germer had just told Garrett I wanted to talk to him? It would appear much of my conversation with him went to Garrett thus preparing him for what was coming.

In 2005 Coast to Coast with George Nhouri had Tom Biscardi on, where Biscardi claimed he had a captured Sasquatch in Stagecoach, Nevada. Biscardi at the time had a webcam feed subscription and had promised he would get the cams on the captured Sasquatch. Of course the story turned out to be false.

What did George Nhouri do? He banned Biscardi and demanded that all the extra web cam subscriptions since the night of the announcement were refunded.

That is what a responsible journalist does. It’s not Germer’s fault directly that people had gotten taken money. It is a show host to entertain, and yes sometimes people get on shows that are full of shit, but most of the time we are not in a position to immediately investigate their claims. That is entertainment. However as a journalist, and I have does this countless times, if something doesn’t sound right, I question it. If something like this happened on my show, you are damned straight, there are announcements about the validity of the previous guest. If one story is a lie, then guess what? The rest of them true or not are worth a pile of crap.

Germer stated he felt bad about what had happened, and I would like to truly believe him. And if he is truly the man he claims to be then he will do in kind what George Nhouri had done on Coast to Coast some 12 years ago. He will not see this as an attack but as a reflection of perception and reality.

He has known this for a week now…and not a peep as far as I can tell. As to his encounter with his brother, I cannot state any opinion, only report the facts as told by others. I did not investigate it, I was not there end of story. But the first thing I always check is the weather data to help prove some corroboration. That was not there.  I will let the audience be the jury.

I hold no ill will because he provides a service for the money he gets. A form of entertainment. How real is it? Again that’s the audience’s decision. I can only report what I can prove and give you my opinion when I clearly state it is my opinion.

On Tim Sermons, I cannot speak wholly for the FLIR deal, but it seems like he was pressured to do Garrett’s bidding, again an opinion. Not being able to speak to the man, I withhold judgment.

On Mo Michaux, I can only state that when he smelled something rotten, the oblivious hoax by Garrett, at least one he could prove, did his due diligence and he tried to warn Germer, tried to give Garrett time to come clean, and when it didn’t happen he bailed, and was attacked for doing such by Garrett’s friends.

Sometimes, as we have seen in other cases, you need a slap across the face to see the truth around you. And when Michaux opened his eyes he did what he could. When he crossed paths with me, he gave me everything I asked for and more, feeling his name was tarnished with his association with Garrett.

Now on to Garrett. In my opinion of him, well here’s a guy that lies and lies about those lies. He’s easy to catch in them if you listen carefully. But he likes manipulation, and will call someone with truth on their side a liar, we’ve given ample and concrete evidence of a hoax and a man who clearly received $1000 from at least one person, and didn’t bother to even pay them back. It’s his name on that PayPal receipt, not anyone else’s. It’s his responsibility to pay them back.

15025305_1111715442258356_2023487667573966955_o

We know though he never had any intention of paying anyone back for 3 day expeditions that last a day or hours, or one that didn’t even kick off.

That is why Mr. Garrett has earned himself a spot in the Squatchdetective Hall of Shame.

Bob Garrett in his final sentence to stated he wished he never heard of me. Well I take that as a compliment coming from him.

But I dare assume there is at least a few people out of money that wish they never heard of Bob Garrett.

“The Anti-Hermit”

Once again I pop over to the site where EVERYTHING has been just about disputed, Bigfoot Ballyhoo. I hadn’t been there in some time because the blog author, Linda Newton-Perry stated she was hanging it up.

But as we have repeatedly shown, some tend to come back…and here she is again. Again sticking by all these stories proven to be made up on her “blog.”

For the site’s brief history, you can read about it here.

Linda Newton-Perry again in her penchant for putting “alleged” (and by alleged I mean phony) Bigfoot stories on her blog to support the Bigfoot mystery again falls short.

In the latest, she is still supporting the PROVEN phony Bill Emery by supplying us with this gem on her site. This gem appeared last October.

Screen Caps of LNP story “submitted” to her.

Here’s the text of this so called encounter,

Jerry Lustin has left a new comment on your post "Bill Emery comments on 1962 Bones":

Hello, I’m Jerry Lustin and was among the guys who found the giant creature in November of 1962. Bill emery has asked me to write a short comment on this site. I have never wrote anything in my life so bare with me.

It was in the early hours of November 9th when me and several other men were working the Dew Ridge area clearing wind falls from the roads in the area. If memory serves me it was 8:30 am or so when we saw what we thought to be a dead bear under a big old growth tree on Dew. As we approached the bear it became plain to us that it was not a bear.
The animal was something in between ape and human in looks only larger than any thing I’ve seen ever before or since. The animal was laying under the tree face down and dead. We all looked at it and to our surprise this animal had hands and feet not paws. It was covered in a short crop of black hair and obviously not anything ever seen by us before.

We needed a forest service foreman to come to the site right away to look at it because, we were not to remove any fatalities from wind storm damage trees without forest service being on site. We had well understood protocol to go through in case we came across a car with people in it under a tree. Ranger Guy Adams from Cave Junction arrived and took photos from both sides of the tree. Then more people came up to do the same. As the site filled with forest service and unknown people we were directed to cut a 10 section out above the creature for removal.

It was after we removed the tree off the animal that they got branch poles out and turned the animal over onto its back. The animal’s eyes ware open and dried blood was all over the mouth and ears of the animal. The eyes were black in color. Teeth were jagged and yellowish. It had breasts on it like a female only dropped and small in shape. It was female of course. Everybody was told to stay away from the animal at this point. By noon a truck had showed up and they used block and tackle to pick the animal up and swing it into the back of the flatbed.

At that point the big wig from Medford came and they told us to leave that road and go to Glary Creek some 5 mile away to work for the rest of the week. They started acting like squirrels to many of us, nervous and snappy. It was three days later when Guy told us that animal was a ape escaped from a home in O’Brien. We knew it was bull, because who keeps a 8 ft ape for a pet. We knew when we uncovered the animal, it wasn’t no ape. We didn’t know about bigfoot then but thought it was some kind of wild man-gal.

For some time after many stories came out on the animal as to what it was. My brother- in- law took 3 pictures of it and I hope to give copies to Emery if Stan can locate them.

Once again LNP has this picture which raised a flag to me knowing her modus operandi in the past to have photo’s mislabeled, misidentified to make the reader believe they are something they are not.

With the real people identified in the picture, we learned that the picture had been placed on PBase at the latest on July 14th, 2006 and we know Buzzy’s Greenwater Café closed in 2008. (Source: Small Towns Newspaper Service)

In fact here’s a picture of Buzzy circa 2008…

But here’s where the fun begins. We go back to LNP’s researcher that started it all, “Dale Saxton.”

I took a look at the rest of the thumbnails and BANG… there’s “Dale Saxton” the logger who was the inspiration of the “ESP Team.” We also found another picture of Buzzy Franklin.

But the person pictured is not a logger like Ballyhoo and LNP had claimed, but a fisherman running salmon charters.  This picture was uploaded to PBase on July 14th, 2006, long before Ballyhoo was even a thought and can be found here.

LNP likes to use an article title of “It’s a matter of time.” You’re right Linda!!!

It’s a matter of time before we find the now changed pictures of the ESP Team, since we exposed the last set. And a matter of time before we find “Cole’s” pictures too!!!

Ballyhoo calls it quits??? (At least for now)

I think over the years we’ve proven here that LNP and her Bigfoot Ballyhoo blog, was more like Baloneyhoo.

Well a few of weeks ago, Linda claimed to have thrown in the towel.

Quit

The sad fact is that Perry had a real bad effect on some folks. Check out this sympathetic post for Linda’s cause.

A sad thing in the BF world, Linda Newton Perry has thrown in the towel.
After years of name calling, accusations and hurtfulness she has quit.

To know her is to know she was honest to a fault, naive-yes, innocent as a dove. Her fault lied in the fact she openly allowed anyone to come into her site and write their story. I know her, count her as a friend. I always tried to explain her personality to others as the Grandma of Bigfoot sites; kindly, funny, open and vulnerable.

                                                                                           Internet Post February 15th, 2016

The sad fact is, she WASN’T honest at all. First, when this all started, I tried to inform her she was being hoaxed. Nope she insisted she wasn’t.

1168821

She said if the ESP Team, the team that released a hoaxed picture in 2010, was proven to be a falsehood she would shut Ballyhoo down.

Well it wasn’t long after, not only did we prove the pictures false, but an entire series of pictures proved that the entire ESP team to be a falsity. Of course Linda insisted they were real.

Not only did we reverse search pictures finding stories on her site to be consistently false in the same manner, but we actually had located the REAL people she was using as Bill Emery and Hank Parchell of the ESP Team.

Even despite that, she insisted she was right and we were wrong. Insisted we were the ones lying. And she was not at all nice about it. I mean WE by the way, as there were several of us working together to track down the real folks.

She is not as naïve as people think.

First, she’s a retired Real Estate Broker. Second she writes and supposedly owned a newspaper, or so she claims and is an author.

All of the shenanigans that the site was responsible for can be seen here.

As for her defenders, they are either Linda using sock accounts, or people who should check their own “naivety.”

But for one second, lets suppose we’re in an alternate universe and she was fooled. A reporter that has such a bad track record of being duped for so long, and so often, would have been fired.

There was so many falsities on her blog, that it is a service to the public that it no longer propagates more falsities.

But isn’t there another well known  hoaxer on the west coast that now calls himself quite comically “The Godfather of Bigfoot,” that is constantly being “duped,” as he claims.

Seems to be a common thread amongst some hoaxers. When they are caught…they’re “duped.”

We’d like to wish Linda best of luck in her future endeavors.

Just as Linda has stated she is going to keep Ballyhoo up for archival sake, we as well are keeping the Hall of Shame page dedicated to Ballyhoo up as well for archival sake.

This may be just the last time we have to mention her.

Somehow I doubt it.

Strange, Rare and Unusual Sightings Weekend

Another great weekend and thanks goes out to our gracious hosts in Triadelphia, West Virginia for their venue and hospitality. Speaking  at the engament was a gentleman by the name of Dr. Bruce Kiray DC aka “Dr. Squatch” (who claims to be the #1 Bigfoot Researcher on his YouTube Site) who was grilled by a couple of audience members. Also speaking besides myself was Sasquatch Watch of Virginia’s Billy Willard, Southeastern Ohio Society for Bigfoot Investigation’s Doug Waller, Pennsylvania Bigfoot Society’s Dave Dragosin and Dr. Jeff Meldrum, PhD.

Flaw found with Facebook Picture analysis…

Time to print a retraction. Apparently we have learned that Facebook is messing with the metadata on digital pictures. On February 13th, 2016 we ran with a blog debunking a claim and a photo based on six separate factors.

1. When pressed for details to date and time the submitter of the story refused to be specific.

2. The submitter blocked people asking for an original picture.

3. The submitter lied about the number of cell towers,

4. The submitter lied about how the picture was captured.

5. The submitter lied about government response.

6. The metadata did not correspond to the timeline.

Well we always give the truth here, and it looks like all photos from Facebook are being stamped with the same “Profile Date Time.”

Therefore we have to exclude the metadata as a reason for debunking the picture.

When we ran the test on the metadata we used two different sources, so the issue is with Facebook itself and how it alters uploaded photos. Thanks Michele for the heads up!!!

Lesson learned and posted here so others can be aware.

Remember if a person posting a photo anywhere doesn’t want to send you an original copy via email there is a problem.

If they do and the metadata is missing, there is a problem.

If there story changes (other than slight perceptions of distance, measurements and time) there is a problem.

So it still stands that a picture is only as good as the story behind it. This does not change our summation about the photo whatsoever. Since the report, no one to my knowledge has received the original photo via email, nor has the submitter coughed up a specific date or time.

Ruling: Still a Hoax.

More stuff soon to come and getting closer to radio time!!!

Thanks to a few intrepid researchers out there this has been brought to my attention and a little necessary investigation was performed to come out with this gem of an outcome.

Since early this year a group calling itself the Maryland Bigfoot Research Organization has been touting having a state of the art facility and a highly educated doctor backing them, Dr. Jose Garcia, MD. who claims to work at John Hopkins University and only emerged with his own Google+ account three weeks ago. This ringer is being run on Google+ social network and they have a YouTube account as well which they are using to hijack content.

On November 24th, 2015 the “Doctor” made a huge claim:

Big claim

Wild claim found on the “Doc’s” Google+ page.

I am afraid that people might have the inclination to send evidence there.

Word of caution: DON’T!

How is this a hoax you ask???

Jose

“Dr. Garcia’s” profile.

        impressive2 impressive

Impressive credentials for an MD wouldn’t ya say?

Except our sources that dropped this story in our lap, called John Hopkins and they know of no doctor there by Jose Garcia.

The Doctor’s profile pick is actually that of an actual MD and professor at John Hopkins, Dr. Ben Ho Park:

Now we know that the person that started the Maryland Research Organization page many months was also opened by someone claiming to be Dr. Jose Garcia as well.

Here are some of the items debunked on both pages:

I am also put off by the gross plagiarism of Dr. Henner Fahrenbach’s and the omission of even John Green’s quote in Dr. Fahrenbach’s work.

Simple cut and paste job with the only thing missing is the credits to who REALLY wrote it and who was quoted.

So given the claims and the ease of debunking these claims, not seen since the likes of LNP, this is a hoax of the obvious proportion.  So my next question is who did it?

Just who is behind the MBRO & Doc Garcia?

What we do know is the Google+ accounts are an obvious hoax. The pages are run by a man by the name of James May, from Middle River, Maryland who is a partner in a sign company and is a current or former DJ who used the stage name “Jose Garcia.” He also has a Facebook account under that name as well. Thanks to “Jose” using his business address, we linked everything together very neatly.

First I database searched the address he posts on the Maryland Bigfoot page, and there is listed a James May. In the YouTube comments, “the doctor” throws an email address out there for someone to contact him. We do a search of the web with the email address, and we find the business name with the name James May posted as a partner. There were other relevant database backups as well.

A Google search also turned up the email address linked to both Google+ pages.

business web

Eventually we got the company profile listing James May as a partner.

Of course our database search recovered this address when we searched James May’s name. (The address is publicly listed on the Google+ Page which is why it is listed here.):

James Jay May

Database on the address of Mr. May comes up as the address publicly posted on the MBRO Google+ page.

An internet search using the business name corresponds. With the Garcia profile on Facebook it led us to the Twitter page which is also supported with the database search results.

Not so coincidentally, the Jose “Jim” Garcia page which led us Twitter account has this photo on it! Hmm..an Asian man doing lab tests.

Apparently he’s a Doctor who also owns a DJ business!

Bottom line folks, don’t send him anything… He’s a HOAXER!!!

In the past…

Okay gang, we’ve been working here very hard to dispel hoaxes and separate fact from fiction…

Some of the things in the past we’ve dispelled some myths that have hit television:

  • In the 1990’s A&E Ancient Mysteries documentary on Bigfoot, (hosted by the late and legendary Leonard Nimoy), longtime and respected (by myself included) Bigfoot researcher Henry Franzoni stated that “Ape Canyon,” was named after the 1924 Fred Beck incident, in which a group of hunters had rocks and boulders thrown upon their hunting cabin, resulting to Beck allegedly killing one of the creatures. In truth, “Ape Canyon,” was named after the “St. Helen’s Apes,” a youth collective (similar to the Boy Scouts) which used to explore, hike and frolic upon this canyon and discovered Ape Cave in the 1950’s, later named after their collective which had been organized in the 1880’s.
  • “Let’s get one thing clear straight-away: there have never been any apes in the Ape Caves. Sorry. The name comes from the first of Mount St. Helens’ four major eruptive stages and was bestowed upon the caves by an outdoor group called the Mount St. Helens Apes.”

  • Dispelling an ABC news report in 2003, mixing up and combining the story of the Patterson Gimlin Film and the Ray Wallace Wooden Footprint find. In 2003 ABC news had reported that the Patterson Gimlin Film was a hoax because on his deathbed in 2002 he confessed to the film being fake. Completely misinformation. As a matter of fact, Wallace never admitted to ANY hoaxing. His family found a pair of “Stompers”", aka wooden Bigfoot feet in his shed after he passed away. Did he make the famous 1958 Jerry Crew tracks which coined the term “Bigfoot” up?  There seems to be a difference.

                              Green-Crew-Wallace2BCMpic

Right: The Jerry Crew Cast, Center: The Wallace Stomper, Left: Blue Creek Mountain Track

When looking at the three above it becomes apparent which one was a Wallace print and which one was not. Forensically it is easy to see, granted the stomper is a right foot and the track is a left. The sad news is in regards to the ABC news foul up, I received a response when I complained, that if they were wrong they would print a retraction, and despite sending them numerous references, they never followed up. So much for accuracy in the news.

Of course we don’t have time to correct all the inaccuracies that the media may kick out, but some of the major ones. we want to correct and do our best to uphold some semblance of truth before misnomers and lies do indeed become the truth.

This information needs to be repeated every so often because of the constant influx of new people.

Hence the reason why a hoaxer is allowed to dupe a whole other group of researchers for a second time, using an old Frank Hansen stunt. (Bodies and bringing a phony on tour is no sign of originality.)

“A lie gets half way around the world before the truth has a chance to get it’s pants on.”

So why were people so angry at “Bigfoot Captured?”

Unlike Animal Planet’s Mermaid “Documentary,” and Megladon “Documentary” that appeared on Discovery Channel, at the beginning of this History Channel “documentary,” it clearly stated that some portions of the film have been “dramatized.”

bigfoot captured main

The captured “Bigfoot,” from the false documentary “Bigfoot Captured.”

Well I will explain why.

  • First:

          Dramatized:

verb (used with object), dramatized, dramatizing.

                           1. to put into a form suitable for acting on a stage.

                          2. to express or represent vividly, emotionally, or strikingly:

verb (used without object), dramatized, dramatizing.

                         3. to express oneself in a dramatic or exaggerated way.

                                                   Source: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/dramatize

In this case I thing the director of the documentary got the word “dramatized”  with the word FICTIONALIZED.

         Fictionalized:

verb (used with object), fictionalized, fictionalizing.

                               1. to make into fiction; give a somewhat imaginative or fictional version of.

                                               Source: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/fictionalized?s=t

  • Second, the film isn’t clear what is documentary and what is an act. For example, is Kelly Shaw’s experience; made up or real? Many people think the former not the latter. If you ask him I am sure he will tell you different. And that’s just the first problem.

  • Third, people could misconstrue Dr. Meldrum’s or any of the real researchers part as fiction as well. Dr. Meldrum has publicly stated his distaste for the outcome of the production, and he is so very right in so much as when you sign on to do a documentary or program, what they tell you or what the outcome of production is, you have very little say. Sounds to me like they soft balled the pitch to him.

  • Fourth it causes the public to believe wrong things about this mystery. The confusion was so bad it forced Snopes.com to comment on it:

“While the program started with a brief disclaimer stating that Breaking History: Bigfoot Captured featured "some dramatization" and ended with credits listing various actors who pretended to be Bigfoot hunters, the episode was presented in documentary form and therefore fooled a number of viewers into believing that a Bigfoot creature had actually been captured during the process of filming.”

                                          Source: http://www.snopes.com/bigfoot-captured-history-channel/

    • Fifth, It puts all future documentaries in doubt. How would you like to put out a class A documentary and full of 100% source checked facts, only not to be believed or accused of faking stuff because of productions like this? I wouldn’t that’s for sure, but that’s what we’re up against now.

    • Sixth and finally the dishonesty of the “documentary” continues even today on the show’s webpage do they lie by stating the following describing the program with a smear of dishonesty,

“Bigfoot is America’s most legendary creature, and has always inspired more questions than answers. Could something resembling a massive man-ape really be roaming forests and hiding in the shadows undetected? Whether you believe in Bigfoot or not, there’s something provocative about the idea that we could be living with an unseen monster. But what if one day we did more than catch a glimpse of one? What if we captured the creature? This two-hour special, compiled by a director who traveled the world looking for proof Bigfoot actually exists, takes an unexpected turn when a Sasquatch capture is caught on camera. What happens when what most of us think is fiction becomes fact? And what does it mean for us all if the creature really is out there.”

                                                     Source:http://www.history.com/shows/bigfoot-captured/about

No disclaimer on the site of any “dramatization.”

The Center for Media and Social Impact describes itself as,

“…an innovation incubator and research center that creates, studies, and showcases media for social impact. Focusing on independent, documentary and public media, the Center bridges boundaries between scholars, producers and communication practitioners across media production, media impact, public policy, and audience engagement.”

What they say in one of their surveys about documentaries put out to filmmakers recently is not surprising,

“At the same time, many of the filmmakers surveyed spoke of commercial pressures, particularly in the cable business, to make decisions they believed to be unethical. The trend towards faster and cheaper documentaries and the “assembly line” nature of work has proven challenging to filmmakers’ understanding of their obligations to subjects in particular. They also blurred the line between traditional documentary, reality, and hybrid forms. These developments often troubled documentarians…Filmmakers also face pressure to inflate drama or character conflict and to create drama where no natural drama exists. They may be encouraged to alter the story to pump up the excitement, the conflict, or the danger.”

                        Source: http://www.cmsimpact.org/making-your-media-matter/documents/best-practices/honest-truths-documentary-filmmakers-ethical-chall

It is very obvious there is no easy solution as reality television, which includes documentaries evolves. Let us hope this hybrid type dies a quick death. We all thought it did a couple of years ago with those prior phony documentaries, but it once again reared its head with one twist: This time it used real people to foster their “dramatization.”

    And finally… another LNP slip?

We recently outlined some of the problematic things with Linda Sue’s (Linda Newton-Perry aka Ms. Sparkles) “Miller Document,” indicative of many of her other hoaxes: For example,

    • “ESP’s” Bigfoot pic which they named, “Big Clyde.” Clyde was the name of the Orangutan in Clint Eastwood’s “Every Which Way But Loose” and “Every Which Way You Can.” Strangely when we found the actual people LNP was using pics for as the “ESP” team, they tended to a bull by the name of “Big Jake.”

    bigjake008_fs_fs

    • The ESP member Hank Parchell. In the first picture put out by the ESP Team it was easily identified as an inverted photo cap of the Bigfoot used in the 1977 movie, “Sasquatch, The Legend of Bigfoot.” In that movie there was a character named Hank Parshall.

Thanks to one of my Facebook friends, Carson Hopper, we now may know LNP got some of her names..

Left: A calling to her alleged “posters” for help to verify claims. On right

In the past especially with her ESP Team and Big Clyde/Sasquatch:Legend of Bigfoot debacles where LNP plead help from “Bill Emery’s” friend “Marcy” for help Here was see LNP asking help by these otherwise anonymous folks, for help regarding he Miller / Wentworth scam.

Well here’s the synopsis of “A Year of Novembers.”

    yon

The protagonist of this self published author, (the Perry’s are also self published) is named Sophia Alcaster.

Well it seems LNP is sticking to her patterns or just yet another coincidence that seems to keep popping up around all things Bigfoot Ballyhoo. We should call it, “Bigfoot Baloneyhoo.” We’ll keep digging and letting you know more here!!!

    Till Next Time,
